No detour – just the path I have chosen to take

I have lived a life of great contrasts.

I have felt excluded, made bad choices, and been part of environments that have cost me – both myself and others. I have been at a low point. So low that many would define it as the end.

But for me it was the start of something else.

Not because the story itself is important. But because what I have learned along the way is what today enables me to understand people in a way that cannot be learned from a book.

I needed to combine my experiences and skills into something bigger than myself. That's why I founded the company Ingenomvei AS in May 2018.

The company behind the man

Ingenomvei AS was established by Michel Mateos based on a simple but important realization: Lasting results rarely come through shortcuts.

The name Ingenomvei is inspired by Michel's own journey. Through both adversity and personal challenges, he learned how easy it is to stray from what truly creates development – good habits, clear values, responsibility and honesty. The way back was not about quick fixes, but about facing the challenges head on and taking one step at a time.

This experience has become the foundation of the business. Whether Michel is on stage, acting as a mentor or contributing to development processes, the goal is the same: to help people, teams and organizations create lasting progress through conscious choices and concrete actions.

The values at Ingenomvei are built on honesty, trust, responsibility and consideration for others. We believe the best results occur when people are treated with respect, when communication is genuine, and when actions follow words.

For Michel, Ingenomvei is more than a company name. It is a daily reminder of what it takes to be the best version of yourself – and the same mindset underlies all the work we do together with customers and partners.

Who is Michel Mateos?

I have always had a strong need to help.

For as long as I can remember, I have had a desire to help other people feel better. It hasn't always been expressed in the right way. But the drive has always been there.

I have seen what happens when people are not met. When they are not seen, heard or understood, and I have experienced firsthand how little it actually takes to turn something around.

As I have said myself: "It takes so little. Joy can be the difference between life and death."

Experience that cannot be taught - only lived

I have experienced both the best and the worst in people. I have been part of environments characterized by drugs and violence, and I have known the consequences of that.

Because behind the hard exterior lies something else.

I have always been a person who knows a lot, who cares and who wants to understand. Someone who asks questions like: What do you really need?

That is the part of me I have chosen to build on.

What drives me today

Today, everything I do is about people.

About helping others feel better. About creating joy in life, direction and development – whether it's one-on-one or in front of many. I use my own experiences where relevant, but I never let them define who I am. They are a tool, not an identity.

What matters is how I meet people today: With respect. With curiosity. With honesty.

Structure, discipline and responsibility

The biggest difference between then and now is not in my history. It is in how I work. I work structured. Disciplined. Consciously. Not because it is easy, but because it is necessary.

Because of my background, I have perhaps had to work harder and longer on myself than most people ever need to. I believe this has given me the energy that allows me to be a pillar and guide for others.

Another side of the same person

It may be easy to see the contrasts.

Between the life I've lived – and the person I am today. But for me, it's connected. I'm not defined by what I've done. I'm defined by what I've chosen to do with it.

Today I am a person who:

  • want to help

  • who cares about people

  • who meets others with empathy and respect

  • and who genuinely wants the people around me to succeed

No detour – but a way forward

I don't believe in quick fixes or easy answers. I believe in honesty. In responsibility. In doing the job – every day. Because there is no way around it.

But there is a way forward. And I am taking it – together with the people I get to work with.
